The Way I See It: Government Deficit

Lest I be accused of plagiarism, the following definition is lifted word-for-word from Wikipedia: In economics, a deficit is an excess of expenditures over revenue in a given time period; in more specific cases it may refer to: Government budget deficit. WOW. You know it’s crazy-bad when a definition is specifically expanded to include our Government. That’s red flag number one. So,...

The Way I See It: Minimum Wage

Welcome to my new series, “The Way I See It”, which will focus on my personal experiences with certain things, and or my views and opinions on certain shitty aspects of our country. It’s free speech, and whether you agree with my opinions, share my experiences or not, I’m exercising my right to voice my own thoughts. So, here goes. Today’s topic is minimum wage. The way I see...

Good Movies – Transamerica, Starring Felicity Huffman – Amazing Performance

Other notables in this fabulous film are Graham Greene, Fionnula Flanagan, Elizabeth Pena, and Kevin Zegers. Now, I know this film is a bit older (2005), but I had never seen it before last week. I just happened to catch this film on (I think) The Sundance Channel one evening when nothing else was on. I remember hearing about it when it first came out, but it just never particularly appealed to me. I also...

The Society Saga Continues!

Greetings, all. It’s been a while since my last post. The reason being that I started school. Yes, after sixteen years away, I decided to go back to the classroom. I am studying Clinical Medical Assisting and Phlebotomy. I’m actually way more into the phlebotomy than anything else, which surprised the heck out of me. It turns out that I actually enjoy drawing blood. A few have commented that...

Writing Victories!

Greetings everyone! It’s been a while since I last posted. First, let’s get my health update out of the way, as I don’t really want to spend a whole lot of time on that subject. All my blood tests and ultrasounds were normal, which is a good thing. My blood pressure is back to normal. My high cholesterol and trygliceride counts are coming back down to normal levels. Honestly, this is a...

Health is a passing blessing….

Here is what I’ve been going through lately: My life has turned into a nightmare. About two and a half months ago, it was like someone flipped a switch. I woke up one morning, hacking and coughing, my throat itching like crazy. My eyes watering, my nose all stuffy. It was allergies, and I’ve had them before in the past, and even had  to go on allergy shots to immunize myself against the...

Finally, An Acceptance.

Dear fellow writers. You know the drill. Submit, submit, submit…and then wait and watch as the inevitable rejections begin to roll in. I would say that on average, for every twenty submissions, I receive 19 rejections, and then, finally…the acceptance on submission number 20. Sometimes the number can be even higher, like 30 submissions and ALL rejections. A writer must never give up, however....

An Update on the Compton Crook Award Competition.

As many of you know, I was invited to submit The Society Book One: Genesis as a candidate for the Compton Crook Award, judging to be done by the Baltimore Science Fiction Society. I was invited to send hard copies of my book for judges to read. I received this update today: To whom it may concern, The Baltimore Science Fiction Society wishes to thank you for your generous gifts of extra copies of your...
